The vehicle described here is the first built Apollo, which also drove the Nordschleife time of 7.11,57!
The car has a DMSB car passport and also a road approval!!!
It was the ambition of the engineers to bring a technical masterpiece on the road, which allows both everyday suitability in connection with a road permission, as well as exceptional driving performance on a race track.
Development chief Roland Gumpert, formerly head of motorsport at Audi, had the vision of developing a sports car of the extreme. The vehicle was to generate enough downforce to be able to drive at high speeds on the ceiling of a tunnel. He succeeded. The Apollo's engine is based on Audi's well-known 4.2-liter V8, which was given a power boost with the help of two turbochargers.
The Apollo's chassis was developed to ideally complement the sophisticated aerodynamics of the body design. The result is an exceptional driving dynamics package. The Apollo is perfectly and tightly tuned for the racetrack, but does not lack a minimum of comfort in road traffic. The 42 to 58 percent weight distribution between the front and rear axles helps the Apollo maintain optimum traction, cornering acceleration and braking values.
